POTTSBORO, Texas -- Water levels are down at Lake Texoma, just in time for the long Fourth of July weekend.

After many boat ramps were closed because after recent heavy rains, they're now opening back up. Marinas that felt the impact of flooding are now hoping for a busy four-day holiday.

"From May through September are our months that we make money, so the rest of the time we're just kind of maintaining," SAID cHRISTIE bLISS OF Highport Marina. "We've lost one-fifth of what we would normally make during a summer."

The water got so high at Highport that boaters had to take a water taxi to their vessels, and the Island Bar and Grill was shut down for three weeks.

They say this weekend everything should be back to normal.

"It's really just a blessing," said boater Zach Hash. "You kind of worry: 'Is the water going to be up all summer? Are we going to get a chance to get out on the islands and see some beach?' But it's been nice to see the water go down."

But Grayson County Game Warden Daron Blackerby said boaters need to remain alert; lake levels are still above normal.

"Some cuts between the islands are going to have some sandbars that are probably not going to be visible, but they're probably two or three feet below the water," Blackerby said. "People need to be careful when they're going between the islands."

The Lake Texoma Association updated the status of the following boat ramps on Monday:
