OKLAHOMA CITY -- A gunman was shot and killed by police Monday morning after taking shots at passing cars on Interstate 35 in Oklahoma City, KFOR reported.

Reporter Kelly Roliard at the scene said at least four vehicles had been struck by gunfire; some were leaking fuel and law enforcement was checking to see if other cars or trucks may also have been targets.

There were no immediate reports of any motorists being injured, KFOR said.

Oklahoma City police confirmed the officer-involved shooting in a tweet, and urged motorists to avoid the area near NE 10th Street.

The freeway remained closed more than two hours later.
