Two women die in Atoka County motorcycle crash

Posted: Updated:

ATOKA COUNTY, Okla. -- Two women died earlier this week when their motorcycle ran into the back of an 18-wheeler north of Stringtown.

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety said the driver of the big rig was headed north on US 69 early Tuesday afternoon when he slowed down because of rainy conditions on the highway.

The Honda motorcycle, driven by Rebecca Adkins-Ruiter of Skiatook, Oklahoma, ran into the back of the truck.

Adkins-Ruiter, 36, died at the scene along with a passenger, 39-year-old Heather Gaddis of Enid.

The truck's driver was not injured.

Troopers said the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
