POTTSBORO, Texas -- Rising water on Lake Texoma is having an impact on our neighbors who make a living off the lake. Parts of Highport Marina were flooded on Tuesday.

"Well, it's been a depressing start to the summer… obviously," said marina executive Christie Bliss.

Parking lots and some surrounding roads were submerged. Utility poles and ramps were also under water, with all sorts of debris floating.

"I would be concerned that I would drag my props over picnic tables or any structures under water," said visitor Robert Singler. "It is very dangerous, actually."

Despite the conditions, Highport Marina remains open for business, and is providing services to help lake-goers.

"We've been trying to do our best and make the best of a bad situation," Bliss said. "Obviously, this is not the first time we've seen it."

Four years ago, this marina also had to deal with high water, but this time they are more than prepared.

"All of our team knows exactly what to do now -- unfortunately -- whenever the water starts to rise," Bliss said. "We know at what level we have to move things and at what levels we have to make other arrangements for people to get to their docks."

Highport Marina is operating a water taxi to help boat owners get to their slips.

The Island Bar and Grill at the marina was endangered by the flooding, but the water level stopped just short of getting inside. The building has been cleaned and will reopen when the waters recede.
