ADA, Okla. -- Frank Stout says his dad Ray Stout was a war hero.

"He was in the Air Force, the Army Air Corps, in World War II. He flew on B-25s, had 50-plus missions in the South Pacific, and then he was in a support role in Vietnam and Korea," he said. "Ada was his adoptive city. He loved Ada and he was on the City Council for 20 years and mayor five times. A lot of people loved him around here, so he's missed."

Ray Stout is just one of many who be honored at a Memorial Day tribute at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.

Filled with American flags bought by family members over the years, Broken Arrow resident Rhonda Engle said it's a touching way to honor the memory of those who served.

"It warms my heart to see people who come out and do this for us and for the families that have lost their loved ones, because it means a lot," she said.

Frank Stout said he hopes this tradition will be passed down to future generations.

"I think it's a neat tradition. even for families and their kids, dads and their sons, daughters to help them remember," he said. "It's something we don't ever want to forget."

The Rosedale Cemetery tribute is scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m.
