PAULS VALLEY, Okla. -- Gas up the RV: The campsites at City Lake in Pauls Valley are getting an upgrade.

Earlier this week, the city approved a plan to add recreational vehicle sewage connections to the electric and water hookups already established at all campsites.

"You can hook your RV right directly to our sewer system where you don't have to go and dump it later,"  said police Chief Mitch McGill. "It's a convenience, obviously, and people enjoy that convenience."

Some of the hookups at City Lake are already full-service, but thanks to $40,000 in funding from the tourism department, a little over a dozen sites are joining the list.

"So we can accommodate more people, and -- obviously -- we want people to come see Pauls Valley," McGill said. "We have a beautiful lake and we want them to be able to enjoy that."

Making the campsites at City Lake full-service has been considered for the past few years, but the idea started gaining a lot of traction about a year ago.

Unfortunately for campers, the upgraded hookups won't be ready for lake season this summer, but the city still expects a good amount of visitors.

"I think at times we'll be full," Chief McGill said. "I mean, we're even, on your busy days -- Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day -- we're full even without that."

The city wants to wait until September to add the full-service campsites so they don't get in the way of summertime visitors.
