MADILL, Okla. -- The Marshall County Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of burglary cases.

A low volume of call traffic is giving deputies more time to work on up to 14 different incidents.  The cases range from the theft of several hundred dollars worth of merchandise to much more.

"One burglary totaled around $28,000," Sheriff Danny Cryer said, referencing a case in the Oakview community. "Large lawn mowers and mini-bikes and things of that nature taken. We're trying to relocate that property and get that back to its owner."

Cryer said these cases can take months to solve. He suggests that homeowners consider installing a surveillance system like a video doorbell.

"Most of them are motion-activated, so you can immediately call 911 and let our dispatch know that somebody is on your porch or breaking into your house," he said. "It may be the UPS man or it may be a thief, but I'd at least like the opportunity to have one of my guys go check that out."
