DENISON, Texas -- If you live in Ward 5 in Denison, prepare to make your voice heard in a school board election.

It's the first time in five years there has been an open seat in that district, which encompasses the west-central part of the city.

Three women are running for the post: Christina Moran, Erica Drieselman and Becky Russell. The winner will be the second woman on the Denison Independent School District board.

"It's always a positive thing, I think, to let the community determine who they want to represent them on the school board," Superintendent Dr. Henry Scott said.

Early voting starts April 22 at the Denison Sub-Courthouse at 101 West Woodard Street, and will continue for eight days.

Election Day is May 4.
