DENISON, Texas -- The City of Denison is looking at options to replace outdated water storage facilities near the North Texas Regional Airport.

Mayor Janet Gott said plans are being made to build a new water tower to to replace two aging tanks in the western reaches of Denison.

Sherman Mayor David Plyler said that could cost Denison about $5 million. He suggests that using Sherman's new water plant across from the Denison city limits would help save his northern neighbor and its residents money.

"What we found that Denison from their water treatment plant to NTRA  is about 10 miles, so they lose a lot of pressure along the way," Plyler said. "With our plant sitting so close to the area that they're serving, we felt like it could be a benefit to that area."

Plyler said both cities would benefit if Denison chooses to use Sherman's water plant instead of building new facilities.
