TRENTON, Texas -- The Fannin County Sheriff's Office said a man allegedly shot and killed his adult son during a family altercation in Trenton on Saturday morning.

Joseph Dowen Day, 70, told investigators he felt threatened and feared for his safety during the fight with his 37-year-old son, Wilson J. Day.

Sheriff's office spokesman Frank Deeter said Joseph Day immediately called 911 after the 9 a.m. gunfire. Wilson Day's body was taken to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

The sheriff's office is investigating along with the medical examiner's office. They did not release the address of the incident.
