MADILL, Okla. -- It's the time of year when Oklahoma counties are keeping an eye on their hazard mitigation plans.

The towns of Oakland, Kingston and Madill have made it a priority to keep Marshall County's plan up-to-date. Emergency Management Director Robert Chaney said doing so will prepare them for disaster.

"Thinking about what hazards have hit the county and what hazards might hit the county... then it goes into what can we do to prevent: Not so much the hazards, but the aftermath," he said.

The county's local emergency planning committee is set to discuss this year's plan at the AllianceHealth hospital in Madill on May 8.
