DENISON, Texas -- A Georgia man is jailed after being accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the City of Denison last August.

Bobby Demario Riden, 37, is accused in a scheme where he allegedly falsely identified himself as a representative of a legitimate contractor for the city. Investigators said he provided financial information so that payments totaling $76,000 would be deposited into bogus accounts.

A property theft warrant was obtained from the Grayson County District Attorney's office, a felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

Riden was arrested this week in Georgia. The city declined to offer further comments about the case pending prosecution.
