Sherman rescinds boil water notice

Posted: Updated:

SHERMAN, Texas -- The City of Sherman has rescinded a boil water notice that was issued Wednesday for residents and businesses across a large section of the city.

The alert followed a major water main break on Wednesday morning. The city issued this statement late Thursday morning:

The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ [Texas Commission on Environmental Quality] with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of March 14, 2019.

Water customers in central Sherman, including the downtown district, were included in the alert zone, which stretches south along US 75 and includes residents who get their supply from the groundwater zone. Several Sherman Independent School District campuses and many businesses and restaurants are included in the alert.
