DURANT, Okla. -- A man who was entrusted with handling funds for youth baseball players in Durant is now facing charges of embezzlement.

Durant police arrested Justin Alberda last Friday. Investigators said he stole more than $14,000 from the Durant OK Kids Baseball league between May and December of last year.

Alberda, 34, is the commissioner of the board for that organization. Police said he admitted taking  the money with the intent to repay it over time.

According to the Durant OK Kids Baseball website, the league serves more than 800 children from 4 to 12 years old over a five-county area in southeast Oklahoma.
