DENISON, Texas -- Ten-year-old Rayley Mitchell has found a unique way to give back to her community.

"God put this on her heart," said Rayley's mother, Katie Mitchell. "We just hope that God calls people to give."

After seeing some of her classmates wear the same, worn-out clothing to school every day, Rayley and her mom started Rayley's Rally for Kindness

"I just hated seeing them not have anything," Rayley said.

Now Rayley and her mom have rallied their Denison neighbors to collect donations, hoping to help those who need it.

"There's still so many kids who are in need," said Rayley's mom. "I think Rayley bringing light to this has really made people want to help and do the right thing."

The two are asking for people to donate anything from clothes to personal hygiene items. All donations will be given to school counselors to distribute to kids in need. They've set up donation centers across Denison.

Donation sites can be found at:

  • Knight Family Chiropractic
  • Allen's Plumbing
  • Denison Boys and Girls Club
  • Stones of Heart (in Downtown Denison)
  • Imperial Barbers
