DURANT, Okla. -- Durant police said a man was shot in the arm, a woman feeding an infant was nearly hit, and another woman was wounded in a scuffle with a gunman late Thursday night.

The suspect, identified as Kenneth Lusez, surrendered after officers found him hiding in a shed.

Investigators said the incident happened around 10 p.m. at the University Manor complex in the 800 block of Parkview Drive. One person in a duplex suffered a gunshot wound, and a bullet went through a wall into a neighboring residence, just missing a mother and her young child.

"People keep telling me, 'Man, you are lucky to be here,'" said witness Buel Collins, who was visiting a friend when he said Lusez pointed a 9mm handgun at his face.

"The guy was as close as  you are to me, and the run was right here," Collins said.

Police said Lusez -- who they said has affiliations with the Latin Kings gang in New York City -- was "involved in an altercation" with another person.

"It appears an argument ensued, and as a result to that argument, a male subject was shot, and another female was assaulted," a police spokesman said.

Both of the injured parties were taken to Texoma Medical Center in Denison for treatment and were later released.

Lusez admitted to investigators that he was involved in the shooting and was booked on a charge of shooting with intent to kill and possession of a firearm after a conviction.

The neighbors whose home was pierced by a bullet told KTEN they plan to move out this weekend.
