Paris high school on alert after threat

Posted: Updated:

PARIS, Texas -- Students at North Lamar High School noticed an extra police presence on campus Tuesday following a threatening message posted to social media.

"At this time, law enforcement does not believe the post to be credible," the North Lamar Independent School District said in a written statement. "However, extra safety measures have been put in place for the district including a heightened presence of law enforcement in the district."

A woman posted a screen shot of a message sent to her granddaughter with this warning: "NLHS WILL BE SHOT UP TO MORROW I AM SIXK OF GETTING BULLIED BEWARE." The message was sent from a phone linked to a Florida area code.

The NLISD said it was working with police and the district attorney's office to investigate the post.

North Lamar High School serves about 800 students.
