MADILL, Okla. -- State investigators have been called in to investigate a homicide case in Madill.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said 52-year-old Joseph Wayne Lindsey was found dead at his home in the 200 block of North 7th Street on Thursday.

A neighbor had alerted Madill police after failing to see Lindsey since last Friday.

"The gentleman that lived there had not shown up for work the last couple of days, and family and neighbors were beginning to worry about him," Madill police spokesman Donny Raley said. "It is suspicious at this time just simply because of the nature of the death. We're still waiting to get that back from the medical examiner."

Police called in OSBI agents to help with the case, collecting evidence and talking to witnesses.

"It's usually a quiet neighborhood, but I don't know anybody here like I used to," said a neighbor who did not wish to be identified. "It's really surprising."

Call Madill police or the OSBI at 800-522-8017 if you have any information about this investigation.
