PAULS VALLEY, Okla. -- Financial help could be on the way for more than 100 former employees of Pauls Valley Regional Medical Center.

Patrick Grimmett of Pauls Valley National Bank said he and other trustees were able to consolidate the failed hospital's debt and free up about $600,000.

That amount will go toward payroll, taxes and benefits for now-unemployed hospital workers. They're to be able to provide that back pay by this Thursday -- just in time for Christmas.

Garvin County's only hospital closed its doors in October. The facility's former employees filed a class action lawsuit against the city last Thursday, and a litigation consultant said a grand jury investigation into the hospital's finances could be forthcoming.
