ARDMORE, Okla. -- The Ardmore Tigers football team will get a big sendoff on Friday afternoon as they leave town for the state championship playoff game against Carl Albert in Midwest City.

But before that comes a high school tradition: A big bonfire and pep rally.

The celebration was originally planned for five weeks ago, but heavy rains pushed it back.

The boys, now 6-0, kept winning.

The bonfire was brought back about four years ago because the community wanted a way to show appreciation for their football team.

"We've got several speeches lined up, and cheers and everything, and the community wanted something where they could participate," said Ardmore City Schools Superintendent Kim Holland. "

If you can't make it out to Thursday night's bonfire and pep rally, there will be a sendoff for the team Friday afternoon at 2:30.
