TISHOMINGO, Okla. -- The annual Johnston County Angel Tree is once again ready to help children in need.

The project has been providing Christmas gifts for kids for three decades. The Department of Human Services partnered with Landmark Bank in Tishomingo and Johnston County EMS to help play Santa this year.

"Everybody feels better when they watch kids open gifts," said bank president Cindy Matheny. "When we're wrapping them, we're imagining those kids opening them up, and we're just tickled to be able to help."

To participate in the giving, visit the Landmark Bank branch at 111 West Main Street in Tishomingo, pick an angel from the tree, and return with the requested unwrapped gift.

Parents or guardians can fill out an application to receive gifts at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services office at 1003 East Main Street in Tishomingo. The deadline is Friday at 5 p.m.

Johnston County EMS and Landmark Bank will team up to distribute the gifts. The project's goal is to provide three presents per child. Last year, more than 300 kids got a special Christmas treat.
