SHERMAN, Texas -- A Denison man accused of shooting and killing a man outside a downtown bar last year pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge on Monday.

The Grayson County District Attorney said Brandon Jeffery, 26, was arrested after Devin Owens was fatally shot in a car outside the Tupelo Honey Bar and Grill.

Jeffery maintained that he didn't believe the gun was loaded when he pointed the gun at Owens on May 4, 2018.

Sentencing is set for January 10.
