DURANT, Okla. -- A car crashed into a restaurant at the Magnolia Crossing shopping center in Durant on Thursday morning.

Police said no serious injuries were reported after the front half of the silver sedan went into the Jimmy's Egg at 2501 West Main Street around 10:30 a.m.

Durant police spokesman Capt. Brock Jones said an older man who was driving the car apparently hit the wrong pedal and accelerated over the curb and up to the front window of the restaurant.

Witnesses told police that the driver then backed up a short distance and then went forward into the business.

Brock said the driver was not injured and his son was called to pick him up. Aside from a restaurant staffer who may have suffered a twisted ankle, no one else was hurt.

A city building inspector determined that the impact did not cause any structural damage to the restaurant other than the front window, which has been boarded up.

A spokesperson for the restaurant said the damage forced it to close early on Thursday, but that Jimmy's Egg would reopen for regular business hours on Friday.
