MADILL, Okla. -- It's never too early to celebrate the Christmas season and one organization in Madill is making sure everyone has a happy holiday.

Hope for Marshall County is hosting its annual Fill the Sleigh event where the mission is all about helping others.

"Provide gifts for children, senior citizens that are in the nursing homes and then senior citizens and veterans that are the shut ins in their houses that just don't have anybody," said Executive Director Gwen Wilson.

Wilson said the organization wants to help people do more than just get by.

"And there were people reaching out that were just struggling with, for the holidays. It was just enough to pay their bills and provide food,” she said.

The Fill the Sleigh event is usually a success, with its impact felt throughout the county.

"Last year we had 220 children and 225 senior citizens and veterans so it makes a huge impact on the community," Wilson said.

Although helping others is the reason for the event, that's not its only attraction. There's plenty of fun and games for the whole family to enjoy.

"We’ve got cake walk, we've got bounce houses, we've got 90 plus vendors, we've got food trucks, a live band, a DJ," Wilson said.

All the fun will be at Madill Square this weekend. The event starts Saturday at 10 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m. It is $5 to get in.
