New fire station opens in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Okla. -- Fire Station No. 3, Ardmore's newest, opened for business on Thursday at 125 Veterans Boulevard, across the street from Noble Stadium.

It was five years from planning to completion, and Chief Cary Williamson said it was $1.7 million well-spent -- especially considering the new safety features.

"Having our bedrooms off of the bay is a great benefit, because it helps eliminate the possibility of cancer from the exhaust of the trucks," he said.

Williamson thanked City Commissioners for their help during the process.
