SULPHUR, OK - "We have had this game circled on our calendar for awhile now and we know it is probably going to determine who wins district, so we have to go out there and beat these guys," said Sulphur senior running back Mason Lance.
Winning has not been a problem for the bulldogs this season as they are off to a 3-0 start to district play, but the competition certainly ramps up Friday when a Plainview offense comes to town having scored 60 plus points in two of their last three games.
"They are just super talented and they do things right. They have an excellent quarterback, they have a real good running back, they have a real good offensive line and some real good receivers," said Sulphur head coach Jim Dixon.
"We started out really fast, we are scoring a lot which is fun to watch and our defense is playing lights out," said Plainview senior linebacker Lane Ross.
"We know this team is pretty good and we have to get better this week and go out there and show them what we have got," said Sulphur senior running back Trey Kiser.
"I think one big difference this year is we have been a little more balanced with what we have done. We have a couple good receivers who will go catch the ball. We have been able to stretch the field that way a little bit," said Plainview head coach Joe Price.
With two potent offenses taking the field in Sulphur expect lots of points from both teams even if the way they score is a little different.
"It is kind of a contrast in style, you know they are a run heavy team they use 3 running backs a lot of the time," said Coach Price.
"It is just modern times. Everybody does it a little bit different. They spread you out and they throw it and they run it good too," said Coach Dixon.
Regardless of how each team scores there will be a ton of energy from both sides and they can not wait to get on the field.
"It is going to be a huge game, there is going to be thousands of fans there. The winner of this game will probably end up winning the district and winning the district means a lot going into the playoffs," said Ross.
"It is going to be fun. It is definitely going to be a good environment and a good atmosphere. I can not wait to play," said Lance.
