Sherman ER Closes Sherman ER Closes

SHERMAN, Texas --  A free-standing emergency room in Sherman has closed its doors after less than one year in business.

The Emergency Center of North Texas at 115 West Travis Street opened on January 1 and closed on September 1.

Steven Williams, who was the center's business director, said the goal had been to provide faster, more personalized care to residents of southern Grayson County.

He said the facility closed because they simply ran out of funding.

"The intent of our physician partners was very good," Williams said. "They wanted to provide a better level of care for their patients, as opposed to having long waits at the hospital ER. However, logistically speaking, it's difficult to pull that off sometimes."
