ENOS, Okla. -- The Enos/Cardinal Cove Volunteer Fire Department will soon be able to get to the Lake Texoma islands in their service area more quickly.

Marshall County Commissioners recently approved the purchase of a $37,000 search and rescue boat for the department.

Firefighters said it should cut their response time in half, if not more.

"From time to hook up to time to get down, if it's in the Enos area, we're looking at anywhere from five to 10 minutes to be in the water," Assistant Chief Elisha Snider said.

The new vessel is expected to arrive in the next six to eight weeks.
