MARIETTA, Okla. -- Because voters passed a $1.2 million bond issue on Tuesday, upgrades are on the way for the athletics department at Marietta Public Schools.

There will be a new softball-hitting facility; a field house; and replacement of the home side bleachers at McClain Stadium because a portion of the seating area is considered unsafe.

"We have a concrete structure there now that has been condemned and can no longer be used for seating. So we're going to be without that this football season," Superintendent Brandi Naylor explained. "The bond issue will now allow us to replace the entire home side with a new set of bleachers, a new press box."

Construction is expected to start in January.
