WHITEWRIGHT, TX. -- The Whitewright Tigers have a lot to play for in 2018.
"We want to go to the playoffs and win a couple of playoff games," Whitewright senior Austin Jones said.
"Our effort and our intensity is just a little bit different this year," Whitewright Head Coach Mason Edwards said. "There is a positive atmosphere around our group, so I'm excited about that."
"(We are) working hard," Whitewright senior Marcus Reeves said. "Everything we do is 100 miles per hour. Just doing the best that we can."
The Tigers have a core group returning, Including 8 starters on offense and 7 on defense.
"We have some experience coming back," Edwards said. Doing the same things on offense and defense, so I think that'll be a positive for us."
"It would mean everything to these younger guys, set an example for them, and this community, Jones said. "We just need to play together and listen to our coaches. If we do that and everything we are taught, I feel like we will do pretty well."
The Tigers have extra motivation this year, as they continue to play in memory of one of their own.
"I'm excited," Reeves said. "I feel like this season is going to be great. Especially with my family over here, so we will see how it goes."
"We're just one big family," Jones said. "We all love each other, we play together, I just feel like it's going to be a great season."
