WYNNEWOOD, OK - "We are going for it all," said Wynnewood senior right guard Kaleb Patchell.
That mentality is nothing new at Wynnewood High School and everyone involved in the program knows winning big starts long before they step on the field on Friday nights.
"We have had a good fall camp and week one is coming up quick and we have a week zero game coming up this week vs Minco and we are excited. We had good scrimmages last week and we are ready to get going," said Wynnewod head coach Richard Norman.
Especially in the early weeks of the season Coach Norman will rely heavily on a strong group of returning starters on both the offensive and defensive lines.
"I think our strengths are upfront, offensively and defensively. We have a lot of returning players on the offensive and defensive line and well as linebackers and that is definitely going to be our strength," said Coach Norman.
"It is going good, we are looking good. We have an offensive line that is pretty experienced and I feel pretty good about it," said Patchell.
"I have a lot of trust in my offensive line. They have a lot of experience and I am ready for the upcoming year," said Wynnewood senior quarterback Jorge Gutierrez.
"We are pretty close, so it allows us to get stuff done and get to work," said Patchell.
"It is a ton of help. With all those returning players they handle everything upfront and they are able to make calls and make adjustments on the fly, which makes it easy for us as coaches," said Coach Norman.
With the big guys upfront paving the way for their offense and defense, Wynnewood seems primed to be playing very late into the 2018 season.
"The first goal is to win district, the second goal is to win as many games as we can and try and make a run at the state title," said Coach Norman.
