Bells Panthers Football 2018 Preview

BELLS, TX. -- The high flying Bells Panthers are back and ready for the 2018 campaign.

"It's been good," Bells senior Nate Stephens said. "There is high intensity and everyone is bought in, it's good stuff."

"The kids are working hard, a lot of energy and enthusiasm," Bells Head Coach Scott Ponder said. "We've got high expectations just like everyone in the state of Texas right now. We're off to a good start and excited about where we are, just have to keep plugging away and keep getting better."

The Panther offense will once again be lead by a Ponder, and once again look to put a lot of points on the board.

"It's great, I love it," Bells senior TJ Sifuentes said. "I want more."

"I wasn't going to play until 8th grade year then coach talked me into it," Stephens said. "Now, it's senior year, it's the best thing ever."

But it's the Panther defense that has Head Coach Scott Ponder most excited about the season.

"It's going to make us a much more well-rounded team," Ponder said. "defense is the toughest thing to get right because there is a lot to it."

The Panthers will move up in class to 3A Division 2, and will be in a district that features Whitewright and Leonard. They will also field a lot of seniors with experience, and are hopeful it's a recipe for a memorable season.

"It's great, we have a great team, everyone loves each other," Sifuentes said. "We all just click together."

"It's going to be a grind, it's going to be tough," Ponder said. "There won't be any easy games on the schedule. With that being said we emphasized all offseason on being consistent and prepared for what we are getting into."

Bells opens the season August 31st on the road against Honey Grove.
