DENISON, Texas -- After 30 years at the corner of U.S. 75 and Morton Street, the Denison McDonald's restaurant is closing.

Customers on Friday found menus had been already been removed from behind the counter and some food items were already out of stock.

Farewell messages were scrawled on walls and windows as children scrambled for some final-hours fun in the play area.

A manager said the hamburger restaurant will be demolished because of difficulties in refurbishing the existing structure.

A new McDonald's will be erected on the same site, and it is expected to be open for business in November.

The restaurant firm recently announced a $448 million modernization plan for 840 of the chain's locations in Texas.

The Denison McDonald's is scheduled to close for business at 2 p.m. Saturday. Need a Big Mac fix? The nearest locations are in Sherman, Durant and Whitesboro.
