RATTAN, Okla.  -- In this small Pushmataha County town, Charla Janoe's entire family serves the community as firefighters.

"It started with my dad; he's been the chief for many many years and it's just something he always loved to do," she said. "Then I joined the department when I was 18; then my mom joined the department."

It's this passion for firefighters that made Janoe decide to help her fellow men and women out in a special way.

"We kinda rallied together and did a Facebook challenge," she said. "We kinda threw it out there for anybody to donate water, Gatorade, snacks, and anything they could to help these guys."

Janoe said she she's seen these firefighters battling blazes day-in and day-out -- most recently with a fire last week that burned more than 1,500 acres -- and the firefighters worked with very little water and food.

"Everyone comes together, and we all back each other 110 percent, "she said. "It's something that I can give back to them when I am not there 110 percent to help them."

With the help of local businesses, Janoe received more than 400 cases of water and Gatorade, plenty of snacks and supplies for all 24 fire departments across Pushmataha and Choctaw counties.

"It really helps," said Antlers fire chief Delbert Gay. "These are volunteers; a lot of them spend their own gas and time away from their family, so anything they don't have to pay for helps them."

"It's pretty emotional to see not just my daughter doing this, but people in the community coming out, and even those that didn't have a lot to give came out and gave," said Charla's father and Rattan fire chief Tim Eubanks.

It is a simple act from a woman whose heart is as big as Texoma.

"We are going to continue to do it as  long as I am able," Janoe pledged. "It's going to get bigger and better every year."
