Sales tax holiday in Oklahoma; coming soon to Texas

Back-to-school shoppers in Oklahoma are celebrating a sales tax holiday through midnight Sunday.

Clothing and footwear items are exempt from state, city, county and any other local taxes as long as the item is valued at less than $100.

There are some exceptions, including jewelry, handbags, luggage, umbrellas, wallets, and watches. Also: Clothing items that are exclusively used in athletic activities do not qualify for the tax exemption, which ends on August 5.

There's also a tax-free weekend in Texas on August 10-12. In addition to clothing and footwear, many school supplies and backpacks also qualify for the tax savings. The same $100-per-item limit applies.
