GARVIN COUNTY, Texas -- Authorities are investigating a home invasion robbery and assault in Garvin County early Thursday morning.

Sheriff Larry Rhodes said the incident happened around 3 a.m. at a residence on North Country Road 3170 in Katie, south of Elmore City.

A 22-year-old man was reported in stable condition at an Oklahoma City hospital after being treated for "significant" stab wounds. His name was being withheld.

Based on information provided by the stabbing victim and a 16-year-old female witness, Rhodes said deputies are searching for at least two suspects who were armed with an AR-style rifle and a 9 mm handgun.  No further description was available.

Three people "who had knowledge of the robbery" were traced to a residence in Davis. They were being interviewed, but no arrests have been made.
