ATOKA, Okla. -- The man arrested after a clerk was shot and wounded at an Atoka convenience store on Monday has been charged with attempted murder.

The Atoka County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Jimuntez Hill, 18.

An unidentified female clerk was shot multiple times at Buddy's Handy Mart during a robbery attempt on Monday afternoon. She was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition.

Atoka County Sheriff Tony Head said the weapon believed used in the shooting was recovered at a McDonald's restaurant across the street.

Officials said Hill has no previous criminal record, and it's believed he was in Atoka for a short time.

The convenience store at the corner of U.S. 75 and State Highway 7 was closed until further notice.
