DENISON, Texas -- The Denison Fire Department got ready Wednesday morning for the city's biggest-ever 4th of July fireworks show.

And to light up the skies at Forest Park Wednesday night, department spokesman Landon Lindsey said the department is adding even larger rockets to its arsenal.

"We start early in the morning," he said. "We take the trailers and the tubes and all the equipment out there to the shoot site, and we wire it up, and it usually takes us until about-mid afternoon."

Denison's 31st annual 4th of July Celebration at Munson Stadium kicks off with music from the Cheri King Band at 7 o'clock.

Denison Main Street director Donna Dow said there will also be activities for kids, including a bounce house and face-painting. Food vendors will take care of any Independence Day hunger pangs.

The big fireworks show launches at dusk, and admission is free.
