DENISON, Texas -- Denison police say they are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead early Sunday morning.

Police said there was a report of a shooting in the 800 block of West Monterey Street around 2 a.m. Sunday.

"We did hear gunshots," said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.

The victim, Daniel Olvera Hernandez, had been shot multiple times.

"Officers obtained a lot of information there about the identity of the shooter," said Denison police spokesman Lt. Mike Eppler. "We notified other local departments and the Sherman Police Department found the suspect in the Walmart parking lot."

Reynaldo Cruz, a 45-year-old Denison resident, was arrested for murder. Investigators said the murder motive involved a relationship.

Bond was set at $1 million.

"Obviously we are safe and sound, and obviously Denton P.D. is doing a good job, so I'm not really worried at all," said the neighbor. "Just definitely always be aware; keep your eyes and ears open."
