COLLINSVILLE, Texas -- A Collinsville family is picking up what's left after fire consumed their home on Tuesday night.

Eight Grayson County fire departments pitched in to put out the stubborn blaze as the temperature dropped into the teens and first responders struggled to get water to the property.

All four family members got out safely, but their home was a different story. The one-story brick structure was a total loss.

The ruins were still smoldering on Wednesday afternoon, but the Collinsville assistant fire chief said the fire was just burning itself out.

He said it appears that the fire may have ignited in the chimney, but the cause remains under investigation.

Several neighbors and relatives of the homeowners said the family was out of town trying to buy supplies and clothing to replace what was destroyed.
