DENTON, Texas (AP) -- Several businesses have sustained damage in a four-alarm fire that struck a historic downtown square in North Texas.

The fire in downtown Denton was reported after 4 a.m. Tuesday in a building that houses the Downtown Mini Mall, known for selling vintage items and other collectibles. The building is across the street from the historic courthouse at the center of the square.

A portion of the building's roof collapsed and the flames spread to a neighboring building, a Denton Fire Department spokesman said. Adjacent structures also suffered smoke and water damage, KXAS reported.

It's not immediately clear how the fire started.

There were no reports of injuries, but one firefighter was treated for dehydration. The fire was brought under control by 6 a.m.

Denton firefighters received mutual aid from Lewisville, Flower Mound, Fort Worth, Aubrey, Lake Cities and Krum.

KXAS contributed to this report.
