SHERMAN, Texas -- At the House of Fades barber shop, all the brave men who have served our country were served in return on Saturday.

Owner Carlos Diaz gave a free haircut veterans who dropped in to thank them for their service.

"This is what we have to offer, so we just want to be able to give them the best that we can and just try to cater to their needs, at least one day out of the year," he said.

Friend and veteran Tommy Reason made it a point to be the first recipient of Diaz' generosity.

"A haircut is something that a lot of people enjoy, and when you can come in and have somebody show you this type of atmosphere, and show that gesture, it means a lot," Reason said.

Veterans were welcomed on a walk-in basis. Diaz said a simple trim can lift the self-esteem for any vet.

"A touch of confidence that we can add to help boost their morale and boost their week? Well, that's exactly what we're here for,” he said.

Sometimes all it takes it's the littlest snips and clips to show that you care.

"He's an awesome barber and a really good guy and i tell you what, if more people were like him, Sherman would be an awesome place," Reason said.
