SHERMAN, Texas -- This may be the biggest donation contest ever in Grayson County.

Marketing students from Austin College have donated their time to partner with the United Way of Grayson County to come up with a fundraiser that taps into the oldest football rivalry around: The Battle of the Ax.

"A creative way to get fans of Sherman Bearcats and fans of Denison Yellow Jackets to raise money for United Way to come together in a competitive way," said team member Nate Essin. "It's going to be fun for everyone, and the community is going to come out in support of this so we can continue to support the charities here in Grayson County."

Donors will be pitted against one another to find out which side of the ax will give more: Sherman or Denison.

Students have utilized special technology like the geo-filter on Snapchat to create a text-to-give system.

It's super easy to contribute; just text the word BEARCATS or JACKETS to the number 313131 and you'll get a return text to make your donation.

The United Way is hopeful that this rivalry will result in big revenue.

The giving contest began at 4 p.m. Friday today runs through 11 p.m.

After making a donation, contributors will get updates after each quarter on how your team is doing... with a final text of the winner.

So in-between tailgating and touchdowns, get your texts in Friday night, because it may lead to big bragging rights for a good cause.
