PARIS, Texas -- A man is behind bars after Paris police said he tried to run over two people.

Deshawn Alexander was charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Police say they were called to the scene of an accident in the 1100 block of Durango Street on Monday afternoon. They arrested Deshawn Alexander after being told he had intentionally hit two people with his vehicle.

The victims are recovering from minor injuries to their legs.

Alexander was charged with two counts of assault, and bond was set at $40,000. The suspect was also charged with marijuana possession.
