President Donald Trump on Wednesday nominated long time Grayson County District Attorney Joe Brown to be the next U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas.

In a written statement, the president said Brown shares his vision for "making America safe again."

"I am very grateful of President Trump’s confidence in me," Brown said in a statement, thanking senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn for submitting his name to the White House for consideration.

Brown has served as Grayson County D.A. for 17 years.

"If I am fortunate enough to be confirmed, I have loved every minute of my time as D.A, and I feel so fortunate to have worked with such good people in law enforcement, in the court system, and in the county government," Brown added.

Brown is one of seven U.S. Attorney candidates named Wednesday by the White House. That list also includes former state district court judge Ryan Patrick, who was selected for the vacancy in the Southern District of Texas.

“Both Joe Brown and Ryan Patrick have demonstrated clear reverence and respect for the law throughout their careers as public servants, and I was proud to join Sen. Cruz in recommending them to the White House,” Sen. John Cornyn said in a written statement. “I look forward to moving their nominations forward and getting them confirmed as soon as possible."
