DENISON, Texas -- A chain of robberies in Denison is raising red flags.

Police are actively searching for a man who broke into multiple soft drink machines in Grayson County on Monday, and the question remains: How did he get away unnoticed?

Holiday Inn manager Julio Salas found his Coca-Cola machines drilled open and emptied of all cash on Monday morning. Surveillance video showed the suspect entering the hotel around 4 a.m., somehow getting past the front desk without being seen.

Salas believes the suspect walked into the hotel after seeing the front desk was unattended.

Police outlined a timeline indicating that this suspect started at a business in Sherman, then moved north along U.S. 75 to burglarize vending machines at the Hilton, Hampton and Holiday Inn hotels along with the Regency Car Wash, which was his only outdoor target.

Usually there is a side lock that makes it more difficult for someone to use a drill, but for some reason, this machine did not have one.

Salas believes only $15 in cash was stolen from his location, but the other hotels and businesses might not be as lucky.

Police are still investigating the incident. The Coca-Cola distributor in Sherman did not respond to our request for a comment.
