RICHARDSON, Texas -- As police in this Dallas suburb continue to search for a small child, an Amber Alert has been canceled.

KXAS reports that three-year-old Sherin Mathews is still missing. She was last seen early Saturday morning by her father in the family's backyard.

Sherin's father, Wesley Mathews, was arrested and charged with abandoning or endangering a child.

WFAA says the Amber Alert was terminated due to the absence of "actionable leads."

Investigators said the girl's disappearance of could have started as a punishment for not drinking her milk. An arrest affidavit reveals that Mathews, 37, ordered Sherin to stand next to a tree near their home about 3 a.m. Saturday. He went outside about 15 minutes later to check on her, but Sherin was gone.

Authorities said the father didn't notify police that his daughter was missing until about five hours later.

Sherin is about 22 pounds and was wearing a pink shirt and black pajama pants when she was last seen.

If you have any information on her whereabouts, call Richardson police at 972-744-4801 or dial 911 immediately.

Wesley Mathews is free after posting bond on Sunday.
