DENISON, Texas -- A new variety of dining options will soon be available in Denison.

The City Council this week approved plans to turn a vacant lot into a food truck park at the corner of Rusk Avenue and Crawford Street, just south of the downtown district. The proposal by Hempkins Partners Ltd. had previously received a unanimous endorsement from the Planning and Zoning board.

We're told there will be room for up to eight food trucks in the lot across from Munson Stadium.

"I think it will be a great opportunity for some startups and for some who already have food trucks to be able to congregate," said Denison Main Street director Donna Dow. "It will give us who are looking for a place to eat ... a wonderful opportunity for options."

Since the zoning is now approved, Dow said it shouldn't be long before we see food trucks in the parking lot.

Plans also call for seating, restrooms, and a stage for live performances,  The developers say hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
