PONTOTOC COUNTY, Oklahoma -- Jury selection started Wednesday in the trial of an Oklahoma couple accused of killing their nephew.

Colton Clark, 9, disappeared from his aunt and uncle's home near Wewoka in April 2006, just minutes before a social worker was scheduled to question him about alleged abuse.

Days went by and rescue teams never found anything around the property.

The case was reopened in 2015 with the arrest of Rex and Rebecca Clark in connection with the child's disappearance.

Gruesome details about the alleged abuse of Colton emerged in court affidavits.

The initial hearing was held in Seminole County, where the victim lived with his relatives, but the jury trial was moved to Pontotoc County and began Wednesday in Ada.

Rex and Rebecca Clark are charged with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, child abuse, and child neglect. Both have entered not guilty pleas.

The district attorney expects the trial could last up to one week.
