DENISON, Texas -- A Sherman man who had been out of touch with loved ones since last week was found dead of gunshot wounds at a Denison residence on Sunday.

Police are treating it as a murder case.

Michael Lindsey, 54, was reported missing on Saturday by his daughter. Sherman police issued an alert for Lindsey and his vehicle.

"During the investigation, a patrol officer made contact with 55-year-old Christopher Harrell. Harrell was in possession of Michael’s truck and driver’s license," Sherman police spokesman Sgt. D.M. Hampton said in a written statement.  "The officer believed at the time of the stop he was speaking with Michael and only later found out that it was not."

Hampton said Harrell was subsequently traced to a hotel in Mount Pleasant, Texas, where he was arrested on a warrant for false identification.

Meanwhile, police obtained information leading them to the body of Lindsey at a home in the 1500 block of West Gandy Street in Denison. Harrell had been house-sitting at the Gandy Street residence.

Harrell is expected to be charged with Lindsey's murder.
